Re: Good Morning Thread
Yep JG is right, the motor needs to get up to operating temp. the pistons and components need to expand into their surroundings. 190-200 is not over heating, thats normal operating temp.

Re: Good Morning Thread
My car does not, nor never has ran over 180, no matter the outside temperature or driving conditions. I am running an aluminum Rad with no shroud and a stock 4 blade fan and cast iron waterpump.

Do you run a 195 thermostat? I know mine has a 195 but runs at 185-90.

Re: Good Morning Thread
Good morning. Nice cool day today at 22C. I had purchased a Northern Rad earlier this year but it was a piece of crap and poor fitment. That was $400. Then I purchased a Champion rad that was recommended to me by many. That was another $435. My engine builder recommended the Evans coolant and pre-coolant system. When it was all said and done, that was another $400 almost. I never heard of the Smith's rad and nor have I heard of the Allens waterlous coolant system. I should have done more research Ugh! I'm running a 180 stat and the engine is running around 200-205.

Good morning Moparians, 23 at 11:30 and going up to the 28 range. Hardly any wind today but we sure got our share yesterday. Mowed the lawns and going for blood test later, that and errands.
Have a great day all.

Re: Good Morning Thread
My Engine is a stroked 383 big block to 426, 10.0-1 compression .544/.566 lift .241/.253 @.050 solid lifter cam. 525 hp. My Rad from Smiths was $900 CAD with shipping. The whole idea with a rad is to allow the air to get through it. so if your rows or core material is too close together that will be a problem. The fan is a key as well. 18" min fan and a high temp stat so the water gets held in the rad longer to be able to cool. I have a 195 stat in my 80 vette. 350 hp 355 sbc 3 core rad shroud and same 18" nylon fan. car runs at 195-200 all the time regardless of the temp outside. this is normal.

Seems to have a nice stance the way it is. I really think your car is beautiful. You're doing an excellent job on it.Grumpy427 wrote:I need to raise the front end of the duster and inch or so now. work on that Saturday.

Re: Good Morning Thread
205/60 or even 195/60-65 would probably work, I had the same problem before I got my rear springs redone. If you think new rear springs only lifts the front which is what most people think, they are sadly mistaken. If you replace tires, used ones would be cheaper if you can find them, but a big block is certainly different than a small block.Grumpy427 wrote:I need to raise the front end of the duster and inch or so now. work on that Saturday.

No the tire fits fine, just need to crank the torsion bars a bit. I wanted a taller tire up front. I have 340 torsion bars up front with good Strange 10 position adjustable shocks. The car rides like a dream. I have Afco rear leafs they are 166 lb per inch rate. with Rancho RS9000 10 position rear truck shocks. Old stock eliminator trick.

Good morning all, morning started off sunny but the clouds took over, went for a walk and it was 20 then, 9:15 and now at 12:30 it's only 22 lets hope the clouds don't stay.
Next project, a new water temp gauge, which is better electrical or mechanical? Is there a Canadian distributer?...Would like to pay no more than $60.
A great day to all Moparians.

Re: Good Morning Thread
Good evening my friends. Wife got up this morning and said she wanted to take a drive in the country, however she wanted to do so in the Duster.
So we pulled it out of the garage at 9am, and just put it away at 8pm. Had a fantastic day cruising without any car show schedules to worry about. Think I'll have to do that more often.
Any pictures of the cars new stance, Sheldon?
