Good evening not a bad day it rained early then backed off into a usable day. Dan its a 140 Lincoln I got on sale at CT. I cut out then welded in a small panel today to get the feel of the welder and I have to say as a totally naive old guy who is starting to learn how to weld in his late sixties I sure wish I had done this earlier in life. I had to borrow a piece of plate of my buddy to weld in as that particular section is way heavier steel and then the 18 gauge gets welded on top of that and spot welded as well. By the way my buddy is not getting the piece I borrowed back lol. Tomorrow I am taking off the patterned pieces I made for the inner wheel well and beginning to cut and form that section. I got a jug of rust mort today and everywhere I can get it brushed on I will. The rear floor pan will be this week or next weekend depending on the paying jobs. These pics are the small patch I did today which is where your brake foot heel would rest.the black outline on the paper is where the piece was cut out
Have a great evening stay safe

Evening Moparians, just a fabulous day today. Sunny all day warm no wind just my kinda day. Got the lower trunk extension wheel well edge fabbed up and welded today. I know its not much to look at but its a major triumph for me and a confidence builder now not to let the confidence go to my head and have myself believe i can do anything lol. Spent the afternoon putting away the lawn furniture and getting ready for 6 months of rain wind and snow.

Nice work Reg, it's really coming together. It's ugly work but so satisfying when you look back at it after spending 2 hours grinding down the extra weld!

Great day here high of 21, I'm doing yard work all day getting ready for the snow, yea it's amazing we haven't had any yet!

Stay healthy!!!

Good day all, cooler day here today only a high of 14, we had an ugly frost this morning too.

Reg playing with the car is a nice relaxing day!

I made my head light relays yesterday and an extra fuse panel so I hope to get it mounted today.

Stay healthy!!!

Good afternoon, it's been very mild here for the last few days, although it's been cloudy we haven't had any rain. Did a complete tune up on my buddies Cutlass Supreme convertible yesterday. Really surprised just how little I've forgotten after getting out of the trade.
Reg, it's very therapeutic and calming to doing a project, as well as very satisfying to accomplish something that you set out too do. Please continue with the pictures as you progress.
Have a fantastic Thanksgiving all.

Good afternoon 20 what a gorgeous day! Well the morning went way longer than planned but thats only because all I really wanted to do was work on the car and thats exactly opposite of what I got to do. Had a great breaky downtown did a survey of the pub and theres a bunch of seats that need repairs so thats good for me! Stopped at a high end furniture store on the way home because they had a sold sofa with an issue and the customer wanted it fixed ands delivered before turkey day so ok thats going to pay for breaky than home arrrggg. So this is what I got done this afternoon. I fabbed up the inner wheel well test fit it with the outer patch panel all is good so tomorrow it get welded in!
Stay safe eh

Post by Ragtacker Mon Oct 11, 2021 7:46 am

Good morning 2 and it looks to be clearing up for a decent day. Snow in the hills but not down here. Early ya me thinks so, I said in the summer we would have a bad winter because I will be wqorking in an un heated garage all winter. So a not so quick update on the progress of the car. I started welding the inner wheel well in and not sure what happened an expert would say operator error but my welds just went for shit. I think my temp and wire speed was a bit to low for the thicker metal in the wheel well but in any event the welds got lousy then I tried to correct bad welds with more bad welds and well I lost a day going back grinding and welding more bad welds and so on. Yesterday afternoon I started to adjust the welder setting and think I have it good to go now. This is the result of way to much time spent by a rookie but with a bit of dressing up the results will be good. I started yesterday in the upholstery shop because I wanted to get going early and my neighbour who lives behind sits in his/her hot tub every morning for an hour or so enjoying the morning with a coffee and bsing with each other. Now I can`t stand the prick but I also have respect for my neighbours around me so I have commited to my self no noise before 10 on weekends. I made a panel beater bag and my bubby Gord made me a jig to make fake bead rolls so I routered out a piece of plywood for the relief and started bending metal. It looks ok and will fit nicely so another piece of the puzzle is underway.
Have a great day stay safe and don`t eat too muchGood Morning Thread - Page 34 Fd2d3610

Got the Dart Sport back on the road today, it had a sick starter but no more. I have a younger friend across the street who has only one leg but is younger than me and can still do stuff on cars etc. Thank god for his help cause my back does not want to this kind of stuff any more.

New Brunswick and covid are not getting along too good, we are in third place in Canada on a per capita basis.

Finally back now that google chrome took over from google.

Good evening 4 or 5 and raining for the next few days and a storm coming for the weekend oh well. JG good on ya for asking for help, I never do and pay for it some days. Ya the numbers are bad here too but the unvaxed are being flown in from up north to our hospitals here on the island and Vancouver mostly so now folks that need cancer surgery or any other surgery are being shuffled backwards to accomodate. Not the time or place for that bs right now so I`ll leave it at that. Had a guy wander into the shop today asking about his 29 Ford hes doing and wants the upholstery done. I am already doing another actually a 31 A so yacking away and it turns out he has a Formula S so I am going to make sure I get my eyes on that puppy in the New Year. Guy is a roofer hes done well he has some fancy 68 Vette and a Roushe Mustang now the 29 quite the stable. Any who good to see ya back JG.
Have a great evening stay safe

Looking good Lyle, nothing like a car show on the grass so easy on the old pins. Not bad here today again it rained all night but not much at all today. We have an unusual but wonderful thing here in Vic that Cookie does not enjoy. We have whats called the rain shadow which is alot of the weather in the winter arrives from the SE and the Olympic Mountains take the steam out of those storms for us. If its a westerly then as we say here look f`n out. Had a frustrating day yesterday on the Valiant, while I was in a good mood the welder and I wound up having a tough day as it went along. The big problem is I am laying on my back for 1 long weld and well lets say there was swearing and cursing as the Lincoln was being very stubborn and unco-operative. Today was much better no pics though as I had had enough by 2 today and decided to watch some football and have a few beers.
Have a great day and stay safe eh

Good afternoon , sunny and a little cooler than it has been. We only hit 13 today however they are calling for low 20s and bright sun for the next two days.
Lyle, you guys seem to have quite a few shows out your way. Just a long drive for me, when it's only a one day show.
Reg, you'll never get her done sitting on the couch drinking beer.
Have a good day.

I'm seeing a lot of cruise nights around your area Dan - too far for me! But then I'm getting 18 - 20 mpg so it doesn't hurt too bad to drive an hour or two for a day-time show

Lyle, There are a couple but they are about an hour away, our local show is gone for good, but I heard that the Mississauga Car Club, is going to put on a regular show starting next year and it's only going to be a few kms away. Unfortunately the best that I can get out of my car is 6 miles to a US gallon. I took my car to St Marys, and I used 3 tanks of gas to get there and back.

Dan what happened to that 340...is it that modified? I remember when the 340 came out and their gas milleage was pretty good for a motor that would perform. Somewhere like 26-28 MPG.

Dan just think how you are helping the economy out by filling up!!

I get around 14 with the 340 Demon, but I also have 3:23 gears. What I need is an overdrive to help with the mileage.

It was not a bad here today, sunny but only a high of 11.

Have a great day.
