Good morning, rain is almost ok any day but Christmas day. Went down to -2 last night so we got a light dusting of snow and everything is beautiful this morning but it wont last long unfortunately, temp is going to warm up with a warm air flow from the south...in the summertime these are nice to get but this time of year, not so much.

The gift was also to the people around you, your family, your loved ones, your kids if you have any....

My Father had 12 years sober with AA when he died....but sometimes I feel it was too little, too late.....he was drunk from when I was 5 right until I was 25....I wish I had spent more time with him when he was sober, because I certainly didn't has much of a Father growing up.

Now I'm 50.....I drink on occasion, maybe once twice a year....I'm certain my kids will have a better example of a Dad then I did.

Cheers....

I sobered up when my Daughter was 3 and my son was a new born. They never knew me as a drunk. My Father died a drunk, he was robbed of 20 years of his life by drinking the way he did. Like you Alan i had a lot of anger and resentments towards my family. I am grateful that I took the last 21 years to work on all that. I have a great sense of freedom now from all of that.

Cheers to you as well.

Most of our dads in their generation were involved with too much alcohol in some way, it almost seems as it was a requirement back then. I don't know if it was the depression or what.
Most mothers must have been very patient.

Grumpy, don't know you but proud of you.  My dad died at 56 - he served in England, Holland, and Belgium, lied about his age at 16.  Between the army and his upbringing, made a lot of bad choices, checked out of this world probably not realizing that alcoholic diabetics shouldn't drink. I pretty well stick to my 1 glass of red wine in the evening, my brother about the same.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, keep the shiny side up!

Oh trust me i made my share of mistakes, At the same time i was given a chance to change my life and i took it. I am on the temporary sponsor list for anyone coming out of our local treatment centre. I also don't hide the fact that i am in recovery, makes it easier for some people to approach me if they need help with this.

I heard those stories too, I had an aunt like that, although now that I think of it her drinking was Mainly after he was gone.

Good Christmas eve morning, cloudy drizzle too warm for this time of year, we sure did not have this weather 50 years ago.  That was the time when we spent the biggest time of the day outside playing in the snow. +3 already this morning and it is only 9:30ish over her. Have a good day and

Yeah I can imagine, no white stuff and kids playing with their video games which are not good for them but keep them out of our hair.
