Re: 71 duster build
Well front K member is off the car, front end is all knocked apart and at the sandblaster. All my Moog suspension and steering stuff turned up this week too. I have the part number for Moog camber adjustment upper control arm bolts. Bolts only number no bushings. So once that comes back that will all get put together with rear suspension making it a roller and off to the body shop it goes.

Re: 71 duster build
Ok Jean Guy hope this holds you over for a bit? You may need a cigarette after seeing these. lolol Its been a pleasure working on a car with only 20,000 miles. It came apart very nice, and so far only needed minor welding to fix areas that Granny and caused damage.lol The Front K member required the oil pump mod when using the schumaker conversion motor mounts.I learned after the test fit that i didnt need to go as big as i did with the hole. But they dont say till after in the instructions that this is for the HIGH VOLUME oil pump. Still good to do though/ also i figured i would do a k member test fitwhile the engine is on the stand. The oil pan etc all clears with tons of room. Then it all went to the sandblaster and they used a high endura paint on it.
The trunk floor, and front engine bay are in very nice shape as well as the floor. I pulled the carpet out and was surprised to see factory shinny paint. So now that i have all the front suspension less shocks and all the steering stuff, i will start the tedious task of scotch brite scuffing everyting down before final priming. Then i will try my hand with the srpay gun and shoot paint on all the under skin trunk door jams etc. Assemble front and rear suspension, make the car a roller then send it off to body shop jail for many months.

Well the trunk is partly painted and the rest in primer. I will post pics after i get it all prepped fpr paint. Went to autobody supply and got what i need to get reay to spray trunk and engine bay. I also ordered my shocks yesterday. Koni 5 position adjustables for the front, and Ranch RS9000 9 position adjustables for the rear.

Re: 71 duster build
Got an email from summit yesterday the Koni front shocks are no longer available, but Strange makes a 9 position adjustable front Shock, so i have those on order instead. Got my 3 degree pinion wedges for the diffy yesterday, but had to make new leaf spring center pins as the stock ones were too short. I ended up using a 5/16 grade 8 allen head bolt, then grinding down a 7/16 bolt to use as a centering bushing as the hole in the spring pads are way larger than the pin head it.

Re: 71 duster build
well spent the weekend painting the under parts of the duster. The engine bau inside and out are done alone with the front jambs. Also the trunk is painted. It is Glacier B2 Blue original color of the car.

Re: 71 duster build
The hits keep coming. Beware when you buy a low mile Granny car. Them old fuckers cant drive and hit shit left right and center. I had a bent lover control arm and strut rod this week, didnt notice till assembly time. Thank God my buddy has a machine shop and press, was able to straighten it all.

Re: 71 duster build
It's hard to really to know the history on a 40 + year old car. Especially if they had it fixed and were told everything is fine and they believed what they were told. At least you caught it before getting it back on the road.
