Re: WHEEL NOISE
Could be a bad bearing, but I've noticed when you get a hum from the rear end it's low on oil, or poorly set up gears in the case of a new setup. Can you run the car up to speed on someone's hoist to see if you can narrow it down some?

Re: WHEEL NOISE
I should be able to run the car on a hoist but it seems funny 'cause the right side is quiet and the left side is not...could be a bearing. Funny it was quiet before, just this spring it is slightly noisy, I will start by checking the fluid level.Keith Mopar wrote:Could be a bad bearing, but I've noticed when you get a hum from the rear end it's low on oil, or poorly set up gears in the case of a new setup. 8.25 rear, open rear end.
When I changed to the 8.25 about 3-4 years ago I had the axles checked, they were both pitted but one was worst than the other, the guy who did the job sanded one fairly smooth(the quiet one) but the other one I took a gamble on.

Re: WHEEL NOISE
Could also be something as simple, as a bum tire.

I tried to check the fluid level for the Dart's rear but there was no drain plug there just a darn rubber plug.

Re: WHEEL NOISE
jean -guy if the axel was pitted the bearing is more than likely the problem the axel is the race . find someone with a lathe and polish where the bearing will be running or get a good axel .
these rears are easy to work on if you need any help let me know

The rubber plug is for oil level. pop out the plug and as long as the vehicle is level, the oil should be level with the opening.
