Re: JGL's console project.
It's not a Duster, it's a Dart Sport but you are not the first one to call it a Duster, they are relatives though, the modern version of the Demon after the name change...a lot better than Fo or Ch.

More work on the console today and the next few days, the end is in sight, somewhat. (looks good so far, if I may say so myself).

Re: JGL's console project.
As you can see, I covered the place for the hand brake with some plastic strips I had and then with a piece of carpet. The carpet goes from side to side and around the back (where I made a mistake), it covers the extension too. Both sides look alike. I am not a pro, it will have to do.

The two 12 volt plug ins were rewired up by me and should work when installed and hooked up.

Re: JGL's console project.
Came out of a junked 2010 Kia Forte, I have a 2013 Kia Forte so I measured mine and it was the right width, I extended it 3 inches in the rear. I was going to attempt to make one but I figured to get a used one would be easier and cheaper. I put left over carpet from the trunk on it myself. I am satisfied, could have been better if done professionally but it is close enough for me.
PS: I now have cup holders for my wife's tea or water, an elbow rest and a place for a box of Kleenex. There is also another small compartment for something else and a place on the console for junk.

Re: JGL's console project.
Two days ago after installing the console, I checked the power outlets and had no power. Yesterday I took the day off to recuperate (my old back) and today tried something else and it worked so now I have three 12 volt power outlets instead of one

And the nice thing is that they all work, 2 in the console and 1 in the dash.
