I'll be a spectator as usual. I'm not the kind of person to sit and show my car.

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
Thing is...If you and the wife go, it's $20 to walk in for one day and you have to find parking somewhere on the outside...
If you pre-register you pay $35 for two days and can park you car inside

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
What's absolutely CRAZY is the cost to vend. They want $100 for a 20 X 20.....$200 if you want on the end of a row !!!
It's $40 for the same size at Spring Fling in Mississauga and get this Chrysler's at CARLISLE is only $90.....and that's CARLISLE !!!
I refuse to vend at Moparfest....
When I vend at Spring Fling, I'm lucky to sell $200 worth of parts !

This will be our 1st time as participants - we're really looking forward to meeting more of the folks I've been "talking" to and getting parts and advice from for the last year

Allan, good thing you brought that up, although most of the vendor spots are sold out from vendors re-signing up in advance. We are trying to find space for more vendors. Last year for the first time, there was a new area opened up for vendors in the arena (not car related).
We are always looking for feedback to improve the show, and I'll bring up your .02.
Maybe we can make room in the car corral for small vendors...or something...I certainly would hate on missing out on an opportunity to pick up some needed parts.

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
Thanks for chiming in Giles...
The prices may be fine for the bigger guys, but it's certainly a turn off for the little guy who just wants to clean out his shed....You know, the guys with all the gems....I also find a lot of vendors don't even return Sunday after selling on Friday/Saturday....
Checking out the 2015 Vendor list on the web site....I'd say you're far from being sold out ... http://moparfest.com/2015-Vendor_List.html

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
A lot of those spots are in a sense "sold", but probably not paid for, many spots are reserved by return sellers, at the end of last years show.
But if you'd like, and you only have a few parts you would like to offload, I can hook you up with other vendors, that'll be more than happy to have you bring your parts and they can sell them in there spot. You throw a few $ there way, they sell your parts, you cruise the show.
The only empty spots we had in the last two years, were paid for, but the vendor couldn't make for ??? reason. IE: American, issues at border...Family emergency, etc...
I certainly agree, that a weekend spot are a bit pricey for someone that has only a few things to sell.
So, I'll try and find (hopefully) some kind of solution.
Any suggestions, ideas? All ideas are considered.
Cheers,
Giles

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
I've been in the hobby for 30+ years, I know just about every vendor....I've placed my parts on their spots before...with good success...
Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
Knowing that most of the proceeds go to charity, it's hard to ask them to lower the cost of a vending spot...but to me the vending area seems to be one heck of a cash cow ! 220 vendors at a minimum of $100/spot ? $22K

And that just covers the purchase of next year's give away car.
You wouldn't believe the cost involved in having that show, from the fairgrounds fees, to event fees, security, toilets, DJ, advertising, etc...

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
No doubt.....I haven't missed a year since 1988...I've watched it grow up....
Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
Same here Allan, my first was in '86 when it was in Heidelburg, mostly OCC members, something like maybe 30 cars, two BBQ's and a couple guys flipping burgers and hot dogs and IIRC, no vendors, just a white board to list parts for sale. My ex wife has all the pictures, and for some reason, she won't share.
No doubt it's come a long way. Myself, George, Don and Tony are pretty much the only guys left, that are still involved with the car club and the Moparfest committee.

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
I was wrong, my first year was 1987, I just looked up my old photo albums...The first award I won was in 88.
I've got pictures from Wellington's show that year too ! The good ol' days

JGL wrote:Why?
Because I've never thought that my car is show quality, and besides I get very restless, very fast, when I just sit around. I'd rather drive than show it.

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
Allan, if you can, please forward me your pics with dates if possible. We are currently trying to put the "history" of Moparfest together, the more pics and info the better.
PS: When I say "we", I should say Patt.
Smoken; My car isn't a show car either, and I don't show it every year, but for the difference in the cover charge for a car and two people and a chance out of 1,500 to win a free car, I'd certainly register it.
That being said, sign up, park with the FABO club, have fun, walk around...

Hey Giles when are you coming down to the Atlantic Nationals to try and win something? The Nats have the biggest prize pool in Canada, at least that's what they say.

It would take hours to scan the pictures....These aren't in a computer, these are actual PHOTOS printed on paper and placed in an album.....'member those days....LoL
I have every Mopar show I ever attended from 1986-1994...including the Mopar Nationals, Carlisle, Mopars at Englishtown, Ontario Mopar day at Cayuga, Spring Fling etc...etc...
In the Summer of 1994, I took my EL5 Duster Twister to 19 Mopar Shows winning 19 consecutive 1st place trophies, and sevaral other awards....THE GOOD 'ol DAYS !

Sounds good, but I probably won't do it. I don't need another car, so I'll leave that to the guys that need or want it. As far as awards, dash plaques and other things go, I don't need any of that stuff either. I guess what I'm saying is, that I built this car for me and not the recognition of others. Hope this doesn't make me sound like a snob or something, it's just not about winning something to me. It's about the love of cars.

Re: MOPARFEST 2015 - Who's going?
I on the other hand do show my car even only mopar fans like it. I built it to drive it, not to race it and not as a trailer queen. I built on the cheap because that is the only way I could afford it, BUT I would love to win something even only once so somebody recognises the hard work I put in it, but this is a dream that will probably never happen.
