Small block heads
Putting my winter budget together and am looking at some aluminum heads. Whats everyone using? Are you happy with them and where did you get the best price? If you know somebody unloading a set please let me know.

I have the magnum eddy's and I am happy with them. Had mine on the flow bench and OOTB there was as much as 10 CFM difference between ports. Needed a little work porting to even everything up. Also have read that the valve guides can be tight on the eddys. No issues on mine however.

Yeah our dollar isn't helping things either. Looks like it would be around $2000 for a set from summit with shipping and the exchange. I think the exchange was considerably better when I bought. Think mine were $1400. Mind you that was 8 years ago now!

did you find a set of heads yet ? and what hp levels are you looking for ? there are some things to consider like open or closed chamber and how far your piston is down at tdc . do some math and research you want to get it right the first time .

Re: Small block heads
I am still looking but not very hard at the moment, all good comments for sure. I am not sure whether I will just build a stroker instead of putting heads on this one or not. If I do that I will need to collect some parts Which is fine but then I look at it and say your an old man how much power do you need for cruise night?

Re: Small block heads
you will love a stroker for a street cruiser the torque is hard to explain .I really like my 418 it has rpm performers ported and nothing special and it makes 549ftp of torque on a known stingy dyno . also with a stroker you can run say a 3.23 gear and have enough torque to fry the tires and not need a crazy hi stall torque converter to make it all work .

I've used Airflow Research a couple of times and they were great with no problems and pretty much "bolt 'em on" and go. I got them from Mopac in Vancouver, best prices .

Well damnit I did it. Bought a crate 408 450 hp 500 ftlb of torque = one happy camper. I only have 100 miles on it so haven`t turned it loose but it sure has some snap even with highway gears. Now I need to track down a sure grip for the 8 3/4, have spoken to Cass at Dr. Dif and will probably go with his product unless someone has a used one in good shape.
