New A-Body from Alberta
Finally got around to signing up with my Canadian only 72 Dart Swinger 340 Special. Great that we have a site for Canucks where we can discuss our unique Mopars and challenges. I've had my Special since High school 1979, worked after school for two years to save up for a car and was stoked when my uncle's finance company repoed this Dart and I got to purchase it, sucked $800.00 out of my account but I was thrilled to make the withdrawal. It had a bunch of 70's stuff going on with it which eventually wasn't my cup of tea so I put my own twist to give it a more menacing look and did a black colour change, 4 speed conversion as well as a fat tire flare job on my quarter panels which bit me in the ass 30 plus years later when now I had to reverse it, oh well young and dumb. I parked the car in my garage in 1985 and there it sat until 2012 when the internet provided me with the information that had me puzzled for a long time that this Special had a 340 and 727 and 8 3/4 but should be just /6 grocery getter. Turned out it was one of the 65 Special Order Canadian only cars and 1 of 15 Manitoba Pembina Dodge Specials of which my buddy Joel in Connecticut owns the only other one found.

Putting it back to the way it left the factory with the exception of the 4speed conversion, that's just to much fun to drive and that's why I'm redoing it. Its getting a rotisserie restoration and since I've been in the trade for 35 years I'm doing all the work. It went on the rotisserie last spring and off in the fall but haven't managed to touch it since then but need to try and get back on it, tons to do!

Danny, Welcome to the site. That's a very nice and rare car that you have there. A huge project to undo all the wrongs, but well worth it in the end.

Re: New A-Body from Alberta
Thanks for the welcome fellas, hate to take time off on the project since it seems to be a bit tough to get back in gear now that I'm in my mid fifty's. There are 5 of us with these Specials, 3 in Alberta 1 in Michigan and Joel in Connecticut that are at about the same stage of restoration. I don't want to fall too far behind the others and sometimes like going to the gym it takes others to get you moving, lol.
I'll need to give the forum a good look over to see other member's Mopars.

Appreciate that Brad, I'm trying to be meticulous since I don't plan on doing another one and this one deserves to be done right. Challenger looks sweet!

Hi and welcome from New Brunswick, the south east part known as Dieppe, I am the original owner of my 76 Dodge Dart Sport which grew up from a slant 6 to a 350 HP 360. If you are looking to see most of our rides the best place to look would be the ''online car show'' section not too far below this ''Introductions'' section, another popular spot is the ''Good morning tread'' which is part of the ''Off topic'' section. You will get used to navigating this site after a while...if you have any car questions ask away, somebody will answer.
Again welcome.
Again welcome.

The car looked great in Black. I liked the rounded rear wheel wells, they looked ok.
