Thanks guys. Its such a neat car. Its basically never had a screw turned on it except what was needed maintenance wise. I hope to get it out a couple of times this summer. Its so nice to drive. Its truly like my own personal time machine.

Hi. Really nice Dart. Especially like the colour, probably because my Barracuda is that colour also. Don't see A4 too much. Bobby

Wow , COOL! A stripper GTS.... You would think a guy would just order a Swinger, but likely not an ordered car.
It's an original GTS I know, but it's like a Swinger with GTS badging... Neat!

The car was ordered by a very nice lady that I actually got to meet. I guess she wanted a V8 dart with bucket seats and console so a GTS was the easy way to get it. I don't know if you could even get buckets and console in a 69 Swinger. And I don't know why she didn't just get a 318 dart GT. the A4 paint was not available on the 69 Dart so it was not just ordered, it was special ordered. ( you could do that in 1969, but you can't in 2015). The shell was basically removed from the line before the spray room, painted by hand in a separate area and put back on the line after. Even though it is A4, the trim tag says "99" which is special order paint. I am fortunate enough to have the order form, bill of sale and all 3 broadcast sheets. I even have 3 of the original tires and the redline Goodyear snows on matching painted rims that are listed on the bill of sale. They were in the trunk. It might not be the only A4 69 GTS because nobody really knows but I've sure never seen another. It was my lucky score. And it goes 14.3 @ 100MPH. I think I was the only guy who ever told Mopar Nationals Standard of Originality judges to hurry up and finish judging the car because my class was being called to the lanes!

Again...wow nice! The A4 paint was also Buffed paint when A4 was ordered on a car. That is why they pulled it from the line as it required more time to complete!
I guess a salesman talked her into the GTS over the GT 318? I would have thought a car like that would have been a no ordered car with the options but in re-thinking it makes sense that it was ordered because of the special A4 Buffed paint....Cool! The 99 code is because A4 was not available on Dart line. Always nice to go to a show and stand out from all the others Smile

I remember when I was in high school a guy who had a GTS 340, that car was unbeatable, would it ever move. No weight and great power.

Beautiful car!! I can say that it is not the only 69 GTS painted A4, my m-code 440 Dart was A4 from the factory, also coded 99 on the tag. I'm not fortunate enough to have a build sheet or dealer invoice as it was just an old race car back in the 70s and 80s near San Francisco. It's great to see another A4 car!

I'm new here and computer illiterate, but I'm working on pictures. A lady raced it regularly in California in the 80s and had it painted some fiat red. It's the car in front of the Valiant in my signature. Stripe delete like yours, also!

I "built the Valiant for my girlfriend", but I pretty much drive it daily in the summer. It's a 72 with 52,000 original miles, originally a 318/3 on the tree I couldn't track down a steering column with the shifter and linkage so it's now 3 on the floor, with a 318 magnum in front of it. The clutch is pretty heavy for my girlfriend as it sits. I will check out your build!

Mines a slant with 3 on the tree. The little 9" slanter clutch is pretty light compared to the V8 ones !

I got the Valiant with no powertrain, and being a budget build the clutch I installed was used and cheap from a friend. It kind of has that Centerforce feel to it, fairly heavy and has overcentered a couple of times under hard shifting so I think I'll pull the big spring off of the clutch pedal and give it a try. It will definitely make the girlfriend more motivated to drive it, too!

My nephew also has a Valiant. I found out about a 68 4 door with 33,000 original miles, PP1 red with gold interior being sold out of an estate, 6 cylinder, automatic. He bought it, I got it running and safe, and he drove it for a summer, then he decided he needed a V8. A friend sold him a 68 318 so I swapped it over, and put disc brakes on it for him. Now he drives the wheels off of it all summer. I have some great pictures of our 2 Valiants together, whenever I figure out how to link the pics.
