Chevrolet Malibu clocked at 226 km/h in 100 highway zone

A 28-year-old Sydney, N.S., man accused of driving 226 km/h an hour on the Trans-Canada Highway could face a $2,418.95 fine if convicted.

"Despite slippery winter road conditions yesterday morning, one driver was in a hurry exceeding the posted speed limit by 126 km/h," RCMP Cpl. Mark Kellock said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said police were doing traffic enforcement along the Trans-Canada near Telford, east of New Glasgow, at around 5:30 a.m. on Monday when an officer noticed a car speeding.

The officer's radar showed he was driving 226 km/h, on a stretch of highway where the speed limit is 100 km/h.

"These are speeds for a controlled race track, not for a 100-series highway," said Kellock.

"This could have easily resulted in a fatal collision given the high rate of speed the vehicle was travelling and the changing winter road conditions."

The driver was charged with stunting, and his rental vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

His licence has also been suspended

First off its a Chevy Malibu, and i have a hard time believing that soap box could do 220 KPH. lolol And if he is that stupid he deserves the fine. A kid in Hana Alberta got clocked at 240 plus on his sport bike, the judge gave him a $16,000.00 Fine.

That Malibu must have been going a heck of a hill, like going down the side of the Rockies maybe?
