71 Valiant
Sorry no pics but this week I'm going to start on my 71 valiant Sedan. Its brown on brown with a 225 and 3 on the tree. Only 80K miles and mostly original. Its going to get brought up to date a little bit so it can keep up with modern traffic. The 7-1/4 axle will stay but will get a fairly rare factory suregrip unit installed on the original 3.23 gear and big bolt axles with 10 x 2-1/2 brakes. It'll get a re-arc and add a leaf ,poly bushes , and a 3/4 ADDCO bar. The front will get new rubber bushes in the lowers, poly on the strut rods, Offset bushes in the uppers, 4 ball joints with poly boots. The torsion bars will be upgraded to 340 bars and a 1-1/4 ADDCO sway bar will be added. It will also get 73 style big bolt disc brakes and a wildwood P-valve. KYB's all around and it will roll on 15x7 Mopar steelies with 215-65-15 rubber.
While I'm at it I'm going to swap the A903 tranny to a more robust and fully synchro'd A390 which is a Tremec T150. I'm not doing anything to the engine so the stock 9" clutch will stay but get replaced with a new one. It will stay standard steering and brakes. I'm going to put a performance type alignment in it but I hope the pos caster doesn't make it too hard to steer.
I guess this is nothing too out there. A million other Mopar guys have done pretty much the same job, but its such a funny little car It should be a blast to bomb around in and run 140KMH on the 407 with everyone else.

Re: 71 Valiant
Today all the rear suspension and rear end are out. Started taking the front apart. So far so good no broken bolts, even the U-bolts came undone(with a little heat!). Only casualty so far is the brake lines and I have new ones anyway so I wasn't trying too hard to save them.

Re: 71 Valiant
I just acquired a /6 auto '71 Valiant myself. I won't be building, at least not for now, but just had to "save" it!

Re: 71 Valiant
Today got the rest off the front end out. One Torsion bar put up a bit of a struggle and one control arm cam needed a few pops from the air chisel to get moving. Got the old tranny and bell hsg out. The clutch was destroyed. Hope they can save the flywheel. Hope to get some pics up soon. Should finish taking things apart tomorrow, then clean up the shop and start putting stuff together

Wow, looks like it is in great condition. Mine is fairly good, but not compared to that!

Here is the rear end built up. I had to wait a bit for a set of pinion shims to show up. Its all set up and ready to go. You can see the 7,25 Sure Grip unit and 3.23 gears in place.
