Got a real winner this morning
Took the Duster out for a cruise this morning. As I was driving I spot a NAPA parts store, figuring that I received a thermostat housing from Giles (Gazoo), I thought that I should pick up a gasket, so I could change it. I walk into the store and all the sales guys are busy except one. This fellow appeared to be in is very early teens. He says can I help you sir, I approach the counter and tell him that I would like a thermostat gasket for a 1972 Plymouth Duster. He looks at me and then says what's a Plymouth, I've never heard of one. Another older fellow tells him it's a Chrysler product. So the kid goes to the computer, and then tells me that Plymouth, couldn't have made a Duster, because his computer doesn't list them. After a few minutes one of the older guys goes in the back comes back gives me a gasket no charge for it, because of my experience with the kid.

LOL, I'm not surprised to hear that.
Would I have thought about it, I'd have thrown in a gasket, I have many of them laying around.
But I can't blame the kids either, they have no elder guys to show them, like we had the opportunity to.
Granted, many of them, just don't care also.

Hopefully the young fella has learned something he can use for the next time.
I have a friend scraping a 1989 Ford which I will be getting the 351w V8 for my Mustang son.
Someone asked me why I'd want it and I had a realization that it's 26 yrs old and it would be like when I was say 20 I'd be getting a 1952 vintage engine. At that moment I again felt my age and these things are becoming antiques like me.
How time flies!

Can't blame the kid, he's never been exposed to them. Like Gazoo said, hopefully he's learning.

In a way I don't blame the kid. However he should be smart enough not to tell someone that Plymouth didn't make a Duster, because he computer doesn't show it. I actually blame NAPA. for putting someone in a position who doesn't know cars. What's going to happen if someone in the future goes in looking for something for a Pontiac or Oldsmobile, Is he going to tell them that these cars don't exist either ?

I believe all of the NAPA stores are tied into the same server for searching/sourcing. The kid probably didn't know how to spell Plymouth and search it
