Buddy with a GTX.. Empty Buddy with a GTX..

Post by grassy Sun Sep 20, 2015 9:05 am

I have a bud that is finishing his '69 GTX big block resto... he hasn't gone the header route yet but is is wondering about an exhaust system.

I am kind of partial to a TTI buty you guys have far more experience than I do..

Custom perhaps ?

Thanks, Ian.

TTI shorties, just my opinion.

TTI is the most expensive way, the less hassle way and the best fitting way. The final decision would be his and would depend on the budget, there are lower priced headers around and don't forget that a B-body has more room to play with than our A-bodies.
Shortie headers are fine for street use but for racing not so much.

Ordered TTIs for my duster. $1255 later, they didn't fit. So pissed! I hear Dougs Headers are better and less expensive.

We have both TTi headers and TTi custom exhaust..I have documented this on another site..

The headers were an absolute bi*ch to put on but probably the best of the litter..I cannot believe they work with such small clearances..

The "custom" exhaust was custom after it took a bunch of modifying to get it on Smile but it sounds great..

He put big bucks into the engine but no headers..I think he is going with Accurate..

I spent a lot of money on my engine as well. Thought it would be a great time to replace the headers since they were flat underneath. In the end, I put my old Headmans back in. A much better fit. The only problem I have now is that the headers are banging up against the torsion bar on the passenger side. The rattle annoys the sh!t out of me. I should check out the Accurate myself. Sounds like a good project over the winter months.

We basically has a mildly warmed up crate 360. We installed the engine / trans/ suspension all at once...picked up the front of the car and slid it in...made it much easier...the TTIs actually wrap around the torsion bad on driver's side..cannot remember if same on passenger side..we don't open the bonnet at car shows so we were not after the bling...

Dougs...sounds more like something I can afford when the time comes or maybe something else by then.

I have TTI step headers and full "X" exaust on my Duster. Fit like a glove, no leaks, close around the steering box but don't touch anything. My brother did the installation alone.

I run Doug's on the 340 in my '70 Dart. They were easy to install, I didn't have to make clearances for anything, and they were half the price of TTI's. I'm very happy with them.
