New to forum

Post by Sweptline on Sun Sep 06, 2015 1:43 pm

Hi, just found this forum. Great to see a Canadian forum, little closer to home. Been a mopar guy my whole life. Build transmissions for a living, have had my mechanics license since 91. Current ride is a 68 swb sweptline pickup, when I go to shows, I'm almost always the only sweptline. Hope I can help others when possible.

Thanks. I am living in Red Deer, AB. The wheels are US Mag Indy, 15x9 on the rear with 295-50's, fronts are 235-60's on 15x7's. It sits on an 81 frame, E58 360 warmed over with 2.02 -1.60 j heads, projection fuel injection, A518 nlu overdrive with a 2400 stall TCS converter, 3.91 sure grip rear, shifter in the dash. I started building this truck in the mid 90's, back when you could still buy parts at wreckers. I put all the parts I thought made these trucks unique into this truck. Back then, I came across a 1969 adventurer,  it gave up its drip rail chrome, bucket seats, chrome bumper, door trim, and hood ornament. Mirror posts I made from stainless and added small round mirrors.  Gets thumbs up wherever I go, some people have never seen a shortbox, I have only ever seen 3 other ones on the street. It is a conglomerate of many different trucks, the cab and fenders came from my uncles truck, I remember riding in it as a kid, it was not as cool as it is now.  Weighs in at 3872 lbs, not bad for a truck. Stance is due to body being raked on the frame. I have not modified the suspension, and could lower it if I so desired. I'm going to leave it at it's current stance, I can drive it anywhere without worrying about it bottoming out. I see too much of that, building trans' for hot rods, build it too low and way too much horespower, then hate driving it. My motto is" build it so you don't hate driving it".

The shifter is factory for dodge pickups. From 65-68 if you bought a dodge pickup with an auto trans, that is how they came.

Beautiful truck. I personally like the stance as it is now.

Very nice and clean truck...we certainly do not see those very often down here. I bet you do not use it as a plow truck.
Oh by the way welcome aboard.

Welcome, good to see another Swepty guy. I've got a few myself.

'69 Fargo W100 short box. I rescued it from rotting in the woods after 30 years of it sitting. I put a lumpy 360 into it, in front of a 4 speed. 8 3/4 and Dana 44 w/ 3.55s. Has a big old school bush bumper on it with very old electric Warn winch, and a set of first gen BF Goodrich mud terrains on it. Very fun truck. Unfortunately it's down right now as the steering box let go and the '69 - 71 boxes are rare as hens teeth.

'65 Fargo W300, short box, Poly 318, NP435 4 speed, Dana 70 front and rear w/ 5.88s, 40" military wheels, split rims, 10,000 LB hand crank Bulldogg winch.

'64 Dodge W300, flat deck, 440, NP435 4 speed, Dana 70 front and rear w/ 4.10s, 35" bias ply, PTO winch. It's the current project.

'66 Dodge W300 rolling frame with Rebco dumping box, Dana 70 front and rear w/ 4.88s, rare power steering. It's currently the parts frame.
