boost on a low comp 440?
has anyone ever run any boost on a low compression cast piston 440 with six pack rods and a forged crank? have a tight rv block here think the compression is only around 7.8:1.. only issue is the cast, pistons and heavy rods (weight of the rods may not be as big of an issue under some positive pressure). by the time a guy changes pistons may as well change the rods out for some standard rods with some better bolts in em. thought this block would be an alright candidate for some low rpm low boost, until a proper bottom end is built. have a couple more bb engines screaming for a stroker build just throwing around ideas. you guys may cringe at the f word but i built a turbo efi 300 f*#$ 1/2 ton 4x4 that worked better than it should have on hyper pistons. wanted to test mule something before messing with the duster

yep. don't expect the pistons to live long under tons of boost but it works and its fun. keep the boost low and not a lot of timing and you will be fine.

I agree. Keep your boost in the realistic range and you should be o.k. for a little while. The problems will start as soon as you get any detonation. The cast pistons will become itty bitty little pieces as soon as it detonates. Forged pistons don't even last very long with detonation. The best place for info that I know of is over at the yellow bullet site. But be forewarned, they play rough there. Look up a guy named blownzoom440 or something like that. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/index.php
