Beer Thread

Post by DustDevl340 on Sat May 02, 2015 6:14 pm

Wondering what everyone else likes to drink as far as beer is concerned.

I'm very partial to hops so I've become a big fan of Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery out of Barrie. Netherworld Cascadian Dark Ale, Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale and Smashbomb Atomic India Pale Ale have all become favourites. I also enjoy quite a few by the Mill Street Brewery in Toronto, Tankhouse Ale and their Coffee Porter are standouts from them. I also think that Amsterdam has upped their game with Boneshaker IPA and Cruiser All Day Pale Ale. My latest discovery is Collective Arts Rhyme and Reason India Pale Ale.

What do you guys like?

Steve

Not a beer drinker either. Now give a good shot of Chevis,(spelling may incorrect) and I'm good. I love a nice smooth Rye.

I'm an ale fan myself. I enjoy Kilkenny, Newcastle, boddingtons. My usual is Labatt 50. Drank it since University because you could guarantee no one else would drink it!! Also like Molson Stock Ale. Like a few of the Mill st products. There are a few new micro breweries popping up in London that have some nice offerings also.

I've never really evolved from standard off-sales fare. Budweiser mainly until they reintroduced Coors Banquet to Alberta-it was my beer of choice when younger until the liquor stores were privatized and it disappeared. I don't drink a lot of beer-drink of choice is usually vodka although I received a bottle of Captain Morgan 1671 from my boss for a job well done and it was tasty-good thing it's limited edition as it's $40 for a 26 ounce bottle!

'member the days when growing up.....you either drank Labatts Blue or you drank Molson's Canadian....nothing in between....sort of like Pepsi vs Coke.... Laughing

I remember 40 years ago...my Dad and uncles would be drinking Red Cap Ale or 50...one uncle always brought Black Label when he visited...of course he drank 2 or 3 on the drive over.....LoL.....

Now I don't even recognize the beers you guys are talking about...

Alan, that's all my Dad drank too, Red Cap or 50. My Grandfather drank O'Keefe, but then again he worked for them until he retired.

Don't feel bad Alan, all these kinds don't exist in New Brunswick, and privatized liquor stores what a novel idea...only thing the Provincial government would loose millions each year so I dought that will ever happen.
Oh by the way when I drink it's Bud Light
Coyote Jack drinks Alpine or Alpine and sometimes even Alpine.

Don't drink much beer but when I do, its MGD. Used to drink Old Vienna and Black Label back in the day when Export "A" Filterless smokes were around.

I like Irish beers. Guinness, Kilkenny, Smithwicks. Not as big on Harp. I also like trying craft beers, something with lots of flavour as long as it doesn't taste like a fruit. Beer should taste like beer, not apples or grapefruit. Around here Coors Light and Bud Light are really popular but to me they are somewhat tasteless by comparison. Also like Rickard's Red and Kieth's Red Amber Ale.

I have no idea how I missed this thread until now. Maybe it was the Alpine. lol When I was younger, I tried a lot of different beers. I found Alpine to be the best for my taste so I stick with it. It's kind of like lobster, once you have had North Atlantic lobster, you will leave the rock lobster to the wannabees. I leave the "pumpkin peach ale" and other such nonsense to the youngsters, they are about the same speed.

My saying to Jean-Guy is, "There is no such thing as bad beer, just varying degrees of goodness".

Moosehead. Very Happy

If you guys see it on the shelves, give Yukons' "Thirst Aid Kit" a try, it's pretty good.

Ever since Canadian merged with Coors I quit drinking Canadian and support every micro brewery I can, and I don't care if they charge more. As a matter of fact if they doubled their price I would still buy it before drinking another bottle of "Canadian".

"I AM CANADIAN!" Yep, you sure are: thanks for selling out to an american beer company. ASSHOLES. Evil or Very Mad

I'm partial to our local brewery: Yukon Brewing. my favorite regulars include, ICE FOG (an ipa) YUKON RED (amber ale) BONAZA BROWN (brown ale) LONGEST NIGHT (a cascadian ale) LEAD DOG (an olde english ale) plus many more only available on tap. tongue I also like the "Scotch Ales" from BC's Cannery Brewing.
